Thanks Eric, I knew I had saw it before.

Anytime.

Plug that number into the fleabays and it should be available.

I just don't know what to do :confusion-shrug:  I stopped by the PO's house, yesterday, to let him know that I had his old tractor running again.  I thought he'd be happy it would live on, but, he wants to buy it back :-?  My OCD tells me it's not done yet to get it back to tip top shape.  And I haven't had it long enough to to get a good feel for what the Raider is capable of.  He didn't want to put the money into it to get it running again, but now that it does, it seems to be a different story.  So my quandary is, should I finish what I started in fixing it up and keep it or sell it back to him :doh:I've put a lot of time, money and effort into getting the Raider this far,  I really want to keep it, but in a way, I know he wants it back.  I'm really torn between the two options.  I'm not even sure if I should post the question for fear of what the answer might be.  BUT, I'm throwing it out there anyway.

I wouldn't sell it back to him until that transmission pulley is correctly repaired.

Well that's what I said I know there's still work to do on this Raider, Mike, and the more I put into it, how can I get a return on my investment.  I most likely got more into than it's worth already.

There's no need to lose money on the deal - he was the one that gave up on it in the first place. Sounds like you've got a lot of time and effort in it.. Didn't you make an 8 hour trip for the engine?

Don't get guilt tripped into it if you don't want to sell it. Nothing saying you can't keep it for a while and then sell it to him later on if you decide to. Enjoy it for a while!

There is no way I would sell it back:huh:

sweat equity has far more worth than feeling guilty... You cant let that machine go.....Alot of time and effort went into it,;)

I'm with Jonah in this one.

You should feel NO guilt in the PO wanting it back AFTER all the work was done that the PO did NOT have the gumption to resolve on their own.

YOU put the time in.

YOU put the money in.

YOU put the mental and physical energy in.

You should keep and enjoy the ride....

There's really nothing keeping the guy from going out and buying another Horse. Sure, he won't have bought it new, but that obviously didn't mean much to him since he gave up on it because of something as simple as an engine replacement.

I don't know the previous owner or what attachment he had for the Raider. If it was the original owner or a family heirloom that had served him well I would consider offering it back with some reasonable return on your investment of time and money. If it was a matter of convenience for him to have you repair it then he would be making an unreasonable request.  :twocents-02cents:

That's kind of how it's coming across to me.

Also, I'm not sure of the engine purchase details, but if @johnnymag3 gave you a good deal on it to help you out to get it going, then I wouldn't feel right turning around and using it to make money. If you paid what it was worth, then by all means go ahead with whatever you choose.

This hobby is definitely a labor of love

Part of the "labor of love" is enjoying your hard work.. Just doesn't seem right for the P.O. of the machine to try to guilt him in to selling it back, especially before he's had the chance to enjoy it!

Randy loves the tractor that's why he doesn't want to sell it back. And @rjg854 I vote for not feeling guilty. Keep it for yourself if you want it, you will take excellent care of it

It may be that Randy is super awesome and just feels the guilt on his own due to a strong sense of compassion for his fellow human.

Nothing wrong with that.

IIFF the PO is truly TRYING to guilt him then that's on the PO. Not Randy.

I really appreciate the replies. For and against.

As it stands right now I've got $500 into it. It still needs

Carb rebuilt, probably from sitting

Left rear hub

Transmission pulley

Brake work

Tie rods are so-so

Hood hinges are wallowed out and rattles

That should put in right condition and if I was to keep it, fix the headlights.

And that doesn't account any more of the time Mike and I have in it.

I don’t think the PO is trying to guilt trip anyone. Lots of older dudes don’t want to be bothered with the effort to fix something. Others won’t give up on something no matter what.

I see it more and more in the younger crowd as well.

Not to sound cruel. Please don't take me that way. But it's the PO's loss.
