hilman fastener center , hardware store

I  regularly refer to a " small drawer section for lots of smaller parts ".  I was just there again today for some speed clips , if you do not have a  HILMAN  FASTENER CENTER , at your local h/w store , you cannot relate to what i am referring to . i have 3 of these stores in close range of me , and it always get what ever I want  , and also a  HILMAN  WANT LIST , SO THE STOCK REPLACEMENT PERSON CAN GET ANOTHER DRAWER STARTED  . mine are true value stores , but they are also in many others , often just seeing something , lets me get started on a  project, keep improving , pete

The problem with these pull out drawers and bins is you have to be vigilant. They are installed in the store full and then that's about it. If you see a drawer getting low on supply, let someone (hopefully an adult) know. Next time you go back check that drawer again and keep reminding them. Within a year hopefully it gets refilled.  You can't sell from an empty basket!

When purchasing items make sure what you're pulling out of the drawer bin is what you want. All too often I'll be getting bolts or nuts and there are 1/4" in the 5/16" ect.

How well the drawers are stocked depends on the store management.   My local Ace Hrdwr (Cameron's, Oxford, PA) is great.  They have two long isles of Hillman small parts.  If there is something out of stock, they order it and phone me in about a week.   If something is in the wrong drawer or wrong bin, it's usually because a customer put it back in the wrong place, so you do have to check.   I've been making about three trips per week for Hillman parts while I've been working on WHs during the pandemic.

If things are misfiled or zero balance I have only myself to blame.  When you live 15 miles from a hardware store.....

Our local Do-It Center is like that. I live in a small town and it’s all I have but 99 times out of 100 they’ll have exactly what I’m looking for when the big chain stores in the larger towns near me won’t have it.
