Drive Belt Adjustment??

Recommended Posts

mowerman1193

I have a Work Horse GT1642 tractor and the clutch peddle is almost all the way out before the tractor starts going.. Belt isn't new but not really all that old.. and is a OEM Wheel Horse Belt.. as I tried to go cheap with a cheaper belt but they can't be done correctly as they are odd sized belts in my experience.. Anyway I don't remember there being any adjustments for the belt? I'm wondering if my clutch peddle spring is weak ? Just looking from under the tractor the idler seems to be all in tack etc.. doesn't appear to have a worn bearing where it would give a lot of slack on the belt.. But I think to really see it will I'll have to pull the belt cover..  I had a tractor years ago do the same thing and then the spring snapped so I'm thinking this might be the case here again? Just kinda wanted to confirm with you pros before I just start ordering parts and throwing them at it.. I use this a lot ( only running tractor at the moment and I know winter is just around the corner.. Like to address this ( time permitting ) before I'm broke out in the snowbank somewhere if I can..LOL

Thank you for any tips and advice you pros can give,

Kevin

Make sure spiral pin 17 has not sheared. When that happens the idler pulley can't keep up to the pedal.

Item #17 is part number 933190 and is a 3/16" x 1-1/4" spiral pin. Similar to a roll pin but multiple layers of spring steel rolled to form the pin. A roll pin is a single layer of metal.

Tractor drive belt  107939 replaced by 93-9809 - (HB x 83.5" or 5/8" x 83-1/2")
