ALCO 3 #1 Posted September 24, 2020 Finally got my P218 running. With a little help from a buddy with a machine shop we made a new governor flyball spacer. Fit like a glove and ran beautiful. No more hunting. I have 5 more if anyone is interested. Do you have a price on them? Sorry no 3D, I'm not that technical. Old school, hand drawings and all manual machining took a long time to make. We bought a piece of 5" round bar that we were told was aluminum from a recycler and turned out to be Titanium. Did pay much attention to it when we bought it because it looks, smells and tastes like aluminum. That is until we started to machine it. Man I want to tell you that stuff is HARD. I looked for a used one and none existed, Boomer told me I was like #15 on his list so I made them myself. The Titanium ones are $130.00. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
lynnmor 7,459 #6 Posted September 24, 2020 The spacers are getting old and I guess the failures are becoming more prevalent, Boomer always had them in the past. The titanium is a great choice because it has a coefficient of expansion similar to steel, aluminum expands much more and would need a very tight press for it to stay in place. I have worked titanium in my shop and it is about as miserable as it gets. Your price is fine considering the effort involved, I might wait for another failure before stocking an expensive part that may never be used.
