shoot, can you swing by my place up there? It's not far from you, I have a massive oak that fell and blocked the whole river...  I think the locals would like it gone

Thanks for the offer!

It's in a "protected" area so I'm not sure how much I can actually do. We have Loons, Blue Heron and a plethora of "Birds of Prey". I was in my boat and had a Bald Eagle fly overhead so close I could see it's neck feathers as it turned it's head looking for fish

I called environmental protection and was told I could cut the parts that were on my property, but wait until the water was frozen to remove the trunk so no harm would come to the bottom of the river

I'm going to just leave it where it fell and hope the spring thaw clears it out of the way.

Do you know anybody that burns wood up there? Maybe they would clear off some of the smaller stuff for you.

One of the things I enjoy the most about living in Maine is the fact that the government is so open and easy to deal with here. If you have a question and you call somebody in Augusta you're actually going to get to speak to a human person who will give you the answer.

Overall I've found them to be very helpful and considerate.

Having lived in the INCREDIBLY difficult to deal with Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly three decades it's a pleasure I assure you.

If you get into a stickler up there and you need some help. You let me know. I'll gather up my tools and Trina and we'll bring a friend or 2 as well.

that's very true!

much more laid back than what I'm used to here in MA, and I don't live in a large town here either

We are having plans drawn as I type, to build a year round home there. It's a lot different dealing with officials, and I don't want to be "that" guy... know what I mean?

Oh I sure do...

A guy moved up from the Boston area to here. He gave me an amazing piece of advice.

You moved here because you like it. DON'T try to make it into something else...

IT'S MAINE..
