ebinmaine 67,285 #1 Posted September 22, 2020 One of the trucks I drive every once in awhile has a folding knuckle loader crane. For this type of machine in the United States it's quite large. At one of my job sites this morning there was a daycare in the next building. They came out for playground time when the crane was in the air. Yelling and screaming and super excited as you can imagine. Probably 45 minutes or an hour they were out while I was. Every time I looked over there was anywhere between 1 and 10 kids stuck up against the fence watching the big big truck. One kid in particular had a red flannel jacket. Little dude. Seemed like he was about right sideways fascinated with the crane. Reminded me a LOT of myself when I was a little fella which was quite a long time ago. When I was done I went over to the fence and one of the caretakers came over to meet me. I said do you read about The Man In The Yellow Hat and a little monkey? Curious George. She said yes. I said you can tell all your kids they got to meet the Guy In The Orange Hat today and his name is Bear. Them kids sure were super excited. As I was leaving they all yelled out BYE BEAR. BYE...BYE!! 7 2 1

midpack 862 #15 Posted September 23, 2020 Thanks for the offer! It's in a "protected" area so I'm not sure how much I can actually do. We have Loons, Blue Heron and a plethora of "Birds of Prey". I was in my boat and had a Bald Eagle fly overhead so close I could see it's neck feathers as it turned it's head looking for fish I called environmental protection and was told I could cut the parts that were on my property, but wait until the water was frozen to remove the trunk so no harm would come to the bottom of the river I'm going to just leave it where it fell and hope the spring thaw clears it out of the way.

Do you know anybody that burns wood up there? Maybe they would clear off some of the smaller stuff for you. One of the things I enjoy the most about living in Maine is the fact that the government is so open and easy to deal with here. If you have a question and you call somebody in Augusta you're actually going to get to speak to a human person who will give you the answer. Overall I've found them to be very helpful and considerate. Having lived in the INCREDIBLY difficult to deal with Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly three decades it's a pleasure I assure you. If you get into a stickler up there and you need some help. You let me know. I'll gather up my tools and Trina and we'll bring a friend or 2 as well.
midpack 862 #17 Posted September 23, 2020 that's very true! much more laid back than what I'm used to here in MA, and I don't live in a large town here either We are having plans drawn as I type, to build a year round home there. It's a lot different dealing with officials, and I don't want to be "that" guy... know what I mean?

You moved here because you like it. DON'T try to make it into something else... IT'S MAINE..
