Bent sleeve hitch

Recommended Posts

Somehow I bent my sleeve hitch and the collars on the ends are wallowed out. It was a used hitch and I did get a few years out of it.  I plan on fixing the old one and in the meantime I ordered the 1/2” thick one on eBay.

I'd like to see some pics of that.

Excessive weight or rough ground causing bouncing?

It always seemed a little loose since I bought the hitch. Here’s a couple pics

It almost looks like there’s supposed to be a bushing in the collars. They measure 7/8 across

A 7/8 to 3/4 bushing slides right in, has anyone seen a sleeve hitch that uses bushings?

I've never seen that type of sleeve hitch in person so I can't verify but I think that the rest of the hitches and the pins all are three-quarter

The main body is 3/4 hole, and I received this hitch the way it is. The missing bushings would cause it to rock side to side and bend it.  Going to try to straighten it to realign the holes and then either keep it as a backup or put it on the ‘73 automatic 12

The OEM sleeve hitch has the 3/4” holes like your hitch. But it has 3/4” spacers that are loose. Someone welded those 7/8 spacers onto that original hitch

eith that said I would put some 7/8” to 3/4” bushings in it and run it after you straighten it

The trick will be getting it straight... May have to add some heat
