JCM 9,130 #1 Posted September 14, 2020 Been driving by this for 10 years and finally stopped to get a picture. Looks to be a 69 Firebird ? anyone like to guess. You may have to zoom in to see the large black mailbox sticking out of the center of the grille. Captured this on my way back to Maine from New Hampshire. Figured there may be some hillbilly's among us, sorry Jeff don't take it in a bad way, lot of clowns on here maybe. You all have a great sense of humor so I know you can handle it. If anyone has seen a different kind of roadside mailbox post em up. 6 1 3

I'm guessing he's not married, don't know too many women who would go for that. Edited September 14, 2020 by Achto 3

ebinmaine 67,285 #7 Posted September 14, 2020 Driving the truck around for much of the day as I do I see all kinds of interesting things and mailboxes are certainly entertaining at times.. I see model trucks with the grill as the opening. Big fish of several different kinds. Large brick standing rectangles with the mailbox in the middle. Same thing with different kinds of stones or concrete blocks. Several different types or sizes of chain all welded together in many different configurations. Here in Maine it is standard fare in snow removal to use a plow with a wing . That makes it so one driver in one vehicle can clear one whole side of the road at the same time. Some states don't do that. Quite often the plow will just tick the end of the mailbox and of course that sends it cleaning off into Oblivion on occasion. Because of that there are many many many mailboxes that actually hang from chains or rope or cables or whatever. Or even have a pole that is a swing away design.

My guess is he couldn't afford to buy a 4 X 4 and had the car in the yard so. . some times a guy has to do what a guy has to do.
