Magnum 14 with an old c style air filter cover

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I have 88 414-8 magnum.... will an old C style air filter cover fit? A snowblower is going on the front of the 414-8 this winter... and I don’t want water/snow in my carb! I mean you can see the air filter the ground from your eyes, it’s a wicked open style, but it’s not good for blowing a foot of snow! (I think!)

I was going to do that with a M12 but the throttle and  choke  cables were in the way iirc

No, I think it was a muffler I was going to put on. Once I couldn't make that work I gave up on the filter cover. Tough getting old... lol

This is an old 12 hp air cleaner lid, I don’t have a deep 14 one! (eBay!)

You are  missing the plastic Magnum cover. It goes over the center stud and fits in the slot on the right side air housing faceing the carb.

But I'm still pretty sure the C cover will work in a pinch...

I restored a '82 no name for a relative with a Kohler K341 16 hp had the deep dish filter - my '85 416 K341 has the shallow dish -  '85 310 8  out in the shed deep dish .

No, I have it, the stock one. It just looks like it will get snow/water in there.  You can see the ground with it! It just seems like an ‘open design’. I was wondering whether the C one would would better?

It’s just with a foot of snow around you, snow blowing with the tractor; there is a little bit of snow, trace pieces on the tractor. You guys know! 😀

use the later plastic shield with the snow blower ,and no issues, btw, the faded engine shielding responds well to a wipe down with penetrating oil on a clean rag ,  do that a few times and it will look much better , jmo, pete

Ok, so the retired guy at the old Wheelhorse dealer also said they didn’t have any problems with snow/water getting into carbs... I guess I will give it a try!!

That's what I run. Don't have enough snow for a snow blower down here.
