Blower Housing Assembly

Hello,

I am getting ready to paint the housing with a tough epoxy based Black Alumahyde from Brownells. I see where the holes where  changed and are now missing the square shape for smooth headed carriage bolts that I'd prefer to use. If I file the rounds it will cut into the old squares and this concerns me. Will this weaken the area? Is the area already weakened enough to have a concern? Utilizing flat washers inside will increase the obstruction some.I also have revealed the need to slightly oval the right side to clear the flange on the deck. As a proto. this is expected.  Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

If you are concerned about the strength of the area can you weld in a flat piece of steel and fabricate new holes. It would be noticeable but it would add strength.

Do you have access to a mig welder? you could weld the unused holes shut and go from there.

I thought about adding a whole new plate over everything, weld it down, then it was simpler to let Bricker Welding do it here in Chambersburg, PA. I could do it but how many times before it was right? Lol! It cost me all of 6-bucks and it came out nice. I filed the squares slightly undersized then pressed a new carriage bolt up through, tapped it back out for each one. That way they are "good & tight"!

Hello,

here I finished the scuff & spray. The Brownells was all, so I used Krylon Bed Liner. Excellent finish obtained by short passing strokes. Now this is really what I wanted, very durable!

Hello,

here I am in uncharted waters! The Bracket Housing Support-79-7440, looks to go in between the Blower and the Plate Blower Mounting-79-1380, utilizing a carriage bolt downwards through Bracket Housing Support?

This is odd, anyone familiar with this set up? Also, how critical is the Deflector-79-7300?
