Is this a funky worm? Caterpillar?

Check out this behemoth bug!  It’s on a 5/4 deck board and a quarter for size reference.  It ended up dying, but we were curious as to what it is?

It is a caterpillar for something.  Might be for a Luna moth.

 

Dang spell check.  Turned caterpillar into catapulted.

I go with caterpillar. Try doing a Google search for large green blah blah blah something like that
