TB0927 8 #1 Posted September 9, 2020 My father passed away in January, and has had this garden tractor for as long as I can remember. I am contemplating a restoration as a memorial to him. He was an avid "puller" in the early 80's and even a hobby puller later on. I know this piece doesn't have a lot of original, but I would love to put it back to the state he would have pulled it in the 80's. First step is to find out what it is. I believe it to be early to mid 60's. I have no idea from there. The serial number plate is still there, but only "61862" is legible. Any help/history would be awesomely recepted. 71_Bronco 1,072 #6 Posted September 9, 2020 Looks to me like a '63 or '64 Lawn Ranger, but I could be wrong. Looks similar to mine, but I have a '62. In '63 / '64, they went to the tank mounted on the engine, with the filler cap through the hood. Here's a pic of mine: The very sloped dash tower I believe was only done on the 64 short frame tractors (excluding the 854 )model including the 64 lawn ranger. If you look close the hood (on the orange tractor) has been modified at the front mount making the hood more forward...that is why the steering column appears behind the hood. Good catch on the hood being moved forward, didn't notice that altered mount on the front. I agree about the sloped dash tower, looks like it started as a '64 to me. Found a thread from Feb. 2018, where a user by the name of @The Gman picked up a '64 Lawn Ranger. Not sure if he still has it or not, but might be able to help out.
