That's the way you do it! It is amazing what you can get for the money if you are constantly on the hunt.Great find for the price! Got a feeling that my e-mail box will be filled with comments after seeing this score.

There probably is nothing wrong with it, with this stupid covid thing, alot of people aren't selling at yard sales, facebook etc... If they need to get rid of stuff it's going to the dump or out by the road for free.

I have seen alot of good stuff for free this summer.

Also folks aren't buying either, I had a few push mowers I picked up and got running again i don't ask much for them 20 or 40 bucks,.  Not a single one sold this year, I don't have a need for them and don't winter them over so I gave them  away for free

Put a battery in it and all of the electronics are good. All the safeties work and she cranks over. No spark. Coil is bad. Got pulse from the module and 12v to the coil. Wires and grounds are good. Compression is good so far. Not too much crap under the cooling tins.
What a PITA to work on this thing. Lol. Kohler singles are so much easier. Haha.
Got a coil kit on the way. Hopefully we’ll have a verdict by weeks end.

cleaned things up a bit. Missing the chute crank rod for the blower and drive belts for both attachments. Everything else looks good. Tranny fan was shot. ☹️ Hopefully the trans isn’t toast.

Based on the hours, if accurate, the PO probably didn't use it for long periods of time.  Does anything smell burnt if you pull the dipstick and take a sniff? Those transmissions are pretty tough.  Even if the trans is shot there is over $1000 there if you part it out.  Bill

The trans fluid, what was left, was clean. All the fluids were drained for the scrapyard. It looks like it was just used and then parked. The snowblower got a lot of use And has a bit of wear. There was grass in the tire tread and the blades are worn out but the rest is perfect.  It was definitely garage kept. There’s no water or rust damage on anything. There is a film of oil and dust and dirt over everything.
It’s gonna be interesting to see how well this runs when I get it going.

As far as I’m concerned my son bought a solid 48” deck for $150 and got a free tractor and snowblower. Lol

It runs.

I followed the troubleshooting guide in the manual. It may have been a bad ground. Anyway it runs pretty well. Goes backwards fine but forward is slow. About 1/2 of what it should. It has plenty of power and will spin the rear tires under load but doesn’t go very fast.
gotta get a new hydro fan and my son can mess with the hydraulics. Lol.
Update, the brake pedal isn’t returning back all the way pulled back on the pedal and she zooms down the road!!😁

I would guess the linkage is out of adjustment if it has full power but is slow.

Yes. The brake linkage is binding and it’s way out of adjustment. I yanked back on the brake pedal and it goes great. I just have to remove the little parking brake handle to get the side cover off.

Sounds great!  Before you use it too much clean the 9 pin connector and make sure none of the pins are burnt.  I ran an extra wire from the rectifier to the main battery stud on the starter to take some of the load off the 9-pin connector.  I was in Home Depot today and discovered that they started selling PAR 36 LED landscape lighting bulbs.  I bought 2 for my Onan powered 416-8.  Changing to those will lessen the load thru the 9-pin as well.  Try mowing with it on a hot day.  Onans are notorious for governor fly ball spacer problems.  The plastic ones without the tab can slip when hot and cause the engine to race.  Yours may be new enough to have the tab.  I changed to a metal spacer on my P216 as it would race when hot.  So, what are your long term plans for this tractor?  Bill

Thanks for the heads up on that connector. Now that we know there are no serious issues we’ll go over the whole machine. I’m pretty sure we’ll find a bunch more little things that need correcting.
My son will probably keep this one. The deck is in great shape and the snowblower shouldn’t take too much to get going.

So I dig into it today after work and it purrs like a small diesel at idle. Carb bowl had crap clogging the main jet. Cleaned it all out, fixed the crappy trigger wire, new coil, condenser and plugs. Put on a fresh air filter and it’s awesome.
tmw the deck gets a cleanup and fresh blades and we’re mowing.

Now that we are finding more uses for the 1990 520H with a KwikWay loader I am experiencing some power loss in the hydro after about a half hour to 45 minutes??????
      Ideas?

Selling my trusty WH520H.  ~880 hours (currently used for moving snow when needed so hours may rise) very solid machine, strong and hardworking.  20HP Onan, hydro transmission and hydraulic lift.  Has Matt's foot-pedal conversion for forward/reverse.  Included in the sale is a tall-chute snow blower and 60" mowing deck.  The blower is in excellent condition and is on the tractor currently.  The mowing deck has been a workhorse over the years.  No holes but could use some TLC, probably needs new spindles at some point and could use a couple spots touched up with welder also does NOT have any pulley covers/protectors (see photo).  Tractor has been an incredible tool, very solid and dependable and I'm certainly going to miss her when she's gone.

Recent maintenance: replaced the plugs this summer, fluids as needed (hydro has about 100 hours on fluid/filter; oil was done in the spring and has about 25 hours on it).  Battery is about 3 years old as are the tires, Terra Trac tires on the rear and turfs on the front.  The seat (with arm rests) isn't in great shape.  I've got a cover for the seat, never used.  It's never really bothered me but new seat cover is included in sale as are 4 hub caps, chains for the rear tires, and some misc spare parts (see photos).

I've owed this machine about 8 year and put ~350 hours on her.  She's not a show piece but could be restored.  Sheet metal is generally in shape, no rust however the hood does have a couple dings in it.

I'm only selling because I'm trying to help my son get a small lawn care business started and looking to move to a zero-turn.  The 60" deck is too large for our trailer, the mowing deck lacks pulley safety shields, and we'd like something that mows faster.  My only complaint with this machine is the top-speed (which isn't great when comparing to today's machines) otherwise she's a beast.  They don't make them like this anymore.
