redone 45 #1 Posted September 4, 2020 Hi Guys I 'll post this topic here. I just rebuilt the Kohler engine, clean everything right. Seated the valve, and gap them properly. Just started the engine at low speed. I am experiencing the exhaust valve poping. Out the exhaust. Yes I polished the valve stems. Yet it still had dark soot up next to the valve head. I am worried it could stick and drop a valve. Would spraying liquid WD 40. Or spraying like liquid wrench into the exhaust stem. pfrederi 17,739 #3 Posted September 5, 2020 Many many years ago Father and i refreshed the H60 on the L107. Figured a little pre lube would be a good idea so we sprayed the valve stems with WD-40. Engine ran for a couple minutes and stopped. Valves were stuck. WD-40 and heat do not get along. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

peter lena 8,629 #7 Posted September 5, 2020 something to remember with trying to recover / improve an engine issue is that it takes time, you cannot just think that its a quick change over. typically i add a cleaner and heat up and run the engine thru a series of functions. i will also be using seafoam aerosol in the carb and hand covering the intake to suck thru that added cleaner. in the mean time the rislone is cleaning out the engine varnish , this combo always gets a engine response improvement. i will also put some hours on it to watch the oil turning black , showing me the internal cleaning going on . i will initially run the engine at a faster idle speed , to help the changeover . at this stage when the engine is running better, its road time , bring a small tool kit , stop and adjust , more seafoam , this is when i can feel and see the engine coming out of its neglect . done similar saves on transaxles as well as engines. i have number of items that i have recovered , and they all work quietly and well, just my own experience, pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
