snowhound 105 #1 Posted September 4, 2020 I recently picked up a mid mount grader blade, the type that mounts to a rear axle mount. I didn't get a lift link with it so I made one but when I angle the blade it puts a lot of stress on the lift link, it tries to twist the lift link. Is that normal or do I need a lift link designed for the grader blade?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #2 Posted September 4, 2020 The pivot bolt is what the lift link connects to. Sounds like the bolt is too tight or perhaps it has a lock washer under the bottom nut. It should be a flat washer and nylon insert locknut. Garry
snowhound 105 #3 Posted September 5, 2020 Thanks for the info about the pivot bolt I'll check it out tomorrow
oliver2-44 9,700 #4 Posted September 5, 2020 Your homemade lift link should have an offset in it like this
71_Bronco 1,072 #5 Posted September 5, 2020 I bought an aftermarket rear-mount grader blade years ago (I think someone on here was reproducing them). I had to make my own link, made one with the bend. At the time, I worked in a machine shop, so i had all the equipment needed to fab one. Don't think I have the drawings anymore unfortunately. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #6 Posted September 5, 2020 When I made my lift link I welded the pins to the bar in opposite directions. Took care of the required offset. Garry
