Today was my day for trailers. I painted the little dump cart I got a few days ago to match my Lambert. After I finished that I went and looked on Craigslist and found this beauty for 50 bucks !!! I love it, its not a dump but sure is cool. Missing the tailgate, but making another out of wood shouldnt be hard. Anyone ever hear of the maker ?? Debating on if I should leave it alone or paint the fenders, wheels and frame to match my Cub. I got a " Woody"  !!!!

As to the paint... Maybe do some research and see if it's original. If so I'd leave it. If it's already been redone by a po it would be neat to have it match the Cub.

How are the wheel bearings? I’d assess and repack / replace them as needed... old trailers are kind of notorious for wheel bearing issues if not maintained...

     That is in nice shape, must have been stored inside. Looking at the torsion suspension, wheel bearings  and the bend in the draw bar I would think it was built for the road.

That is sweet!  Could a 2” hitch bolt on to the neck for road use?  Do you have any tractors that would fit inside or is it only garden trailer size?

@ebinmaine I tried to find some info on it but so far came up empty. It appears to be original paint. Maybe keep it as is.

@SylvanLakeWH WB are good on it. It is in great shape.

@953 nut That was my first thought as well... was it built for the road ? It was always stored indoors, explains its condition. Only thing wrong is the missing tailgate and I need to come up with some sort of way to attach it to the tractor. Just a piece of steel bolted to the end with a hole drilled out will work fine. It isnt very big, I flipped it upside down and it easily slid between the wheel wells in the back of my truck. Also had plenty of room to spare closing the tailgate in the truck as well.

 

I might want to beef it up some by adding another layer of plywood on the bottom and maybe running some 2x4s along the inside top edge. The wood on it now isnt very thick.

Well took it out of my truck first time seeing it in the day light. It is in really nice shape, I bet if I wanted to I could buff those wheels to look like chrome. If I wanted to keep it I would definitely beef it up some by added 3/4" plywood on top of the floor and 2x4s in the corners. Seems it comes from across the pond. Maybe one of our English friends have ever heard of the maker. @Mickwhitt @Stormin ?? Tires from the UK also. Vredestien Speed Master V47. Or as they spell it over there... " tyres " I went to Tractor Supply to pick up a Tongue hitch for the end and all they had was a 2.5 inch. The bar is 1.5 inch. Could have used a 2 inch I suppose but they didnt have one. I just bolted a piece of steel on it so I could pin it to the Cub. Going to pick up some polyurethane and go over the wood. Decided against painting it or make a tailgate, just going to pass it along.

  I hadn't heard of them myself till now. If you Google carsprings  engineering they will come up. Not much info' though.

   Be interesting to know how it found it's way to the U.S. Maybe a person in the services bought it over here and took it back with them.

@Stormin. Not sure how it got here myself. Not sure if it was sold as a kit or a complete trailer. Seems to have some age to it but hard to tell as it is in great shape. has the company been in business long ? Have you heard of that " tyre" brand?

Hi Dmac.

The company started in 1964 according to companies House records but has since gone out of business. Not sure when.

The TYRES (correct spelling as tire means to become fatigued or bored, you guys got it wrong lol) by Vredstein are common enough.

My little red Fred has a brand new pair on the front.

Nice trailer, long way from its Middlesex birthplace.

Thank You @Mickwhitt It is indeed a nice little trailer. Kinda over built for lawn and garden use but under built for use on the road. I am going to clean it up and maybe package it with the Cub Cadet for sale.

Worked on the trailer today. Rubbed it down with some boiled linseed oil, then put a coat of polyurethane on it. I also painted the center caps on the wheels. Looks a lot nicer. I think I will lay a piece of plywood over the floor to beef it up some. Wish I had a bigger yard so I could use it !! I also wish I had a bigger shed. Both the shed and garage are picked full. Here are some pics of the trailer and the shed. I know in a different post we talked about these " sheds in a box " and @ebinmaine said he pushed the snow off the tops of them in the winter. Here is what I did to the roof of mine to support the weight of the snow. I never brush it off. This shed has been up several years. It was served me well. Need a new one soon. Zipper on the door is tearing.

The wood didn't warp and bend?  That's what happened in my plastic shed,. After that I just used a bunch of emt sticks,. The trailer came out nice too
