jre302 4 #1 Posted August 31, 2020 Having an issue with a machine I recently picked up. I changed the oil and filter in the axle, it was milky color and it would not move. I put in 10w-30 and a new filer. Rode the tractor around the yard and everything seemed to work. I parked it, the next day I checked the fluid and it was milky and the machine will not move again. Is the pump going bad??
oliver2-44 9,858 #2 Posted August 31, 2020 Milky fluid is oil and water mixed together. When you change the fluid in a hydro a portion of the fluid doesn't drain. So you will have to have to change the fluid and filter a couple of times to get all the water contamination out It's tempting to not change the filter, but the paper media in most filters is designed to soak up and retain water, but this retained water can slow down the flow of oil through the filter. In other words your filter is used up.
jre302 4 #3 Posted August 31, 2020 Thanks, I will give it another oil and filter change and see what happens.
