Digger 66 3,478 #1 Posted August 30, 2020 Starting to get back into project mode after screwing up 3 discs in my lower-back . That's why I haven't been around much . A fella at work used this saw 3 times and put it away 10 years ago with ethanol based fuel in it . Went to start it this year and the obvious happened .. NOTHING . He went and bought a brushless Milwaukee and GAVE me this . Yes , I know it's a cheapie but the price was right . Had about 180 lbs of cylinder pressure so I rolled up my sleeves and got busy . Needed : New fuel lines and fuel filter . New air-head tube New air filter boot Carb rebuild Primer bulb Spark plug Got her running like a champ ! 8 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebinmaine 67,274 #2 Posted August 30, 2020 Well done. Those are good little homeowner grade saws. I had a Poulan Pro saw maybe 20 years ago. Wasn't the most powerful but it did the job of occasional clearing when it needed to. Mine ran great. Digger 66 3,478 #3 Posted August 30, 2020 I do believe a 16" bar is more suited to the CC's , the model is PP 4218 AVX so I would assume the factory setup is 42 CC's / 18" bar ? Tractorhead 9,064 #4 Posted August 30, 2020 Nice, it must not be allway‘s the top Limit machines, depending on it‘s uses. I would like to suggest you by using Aspen 2 Stroke fuel. It's actually about 6 bucks a quart here but for the amount I use , between the weedwacker & saws around the house and maintaing the ATV trails , I'm on my 3rd bottle this year . About the pricing you‘re may be right, that fuel maybe a bit expensive, but if you use the Saw rarely, like one or two Time‘s a year, the cost relative to the more of maintanance is still it‘s benefit in my opinion. i service my Chainsaw after each use, but i don’t like to drain it after each use. so that stuff can be still kept into the Saw for 2 years without any demixing or bad results. use it also on my rarely used small Genny i have. Even after 2 years of non use it fires right up after first pull. I use https://www.aspenfuels.com/products/alla/aspen-2/. I haven't had a fuel issue with my saws, mowers, washer, generator, boat or atv since I went with non ethanol 93 octane fuel with Seafoam and a premium 2 stroke oil where required. Oldcpecdr 255 #15 Posted August 30, 2020 I have one of those for cleaning up light storm damage. DONT leave fuel in the tank..... LOL.... the cheap chinese plastic swells and you CAN NOT get the gas cap off without mechanical assistance, I believe they now sell non-absorbable caps but I just dump all the fuel in my mine much more effective.
