Well I have finished with all the painting I am going to do to this. Came out ok. Wheel weights I picked up for it are painted and installed. Still have to drop the deck and change the oil but for the most part its done. No harm to it when the guy crashed it into the Lambert. I want to see it with the snow blower attached. Tractor runs great. If it wasnt so big I would consider keeping it. Here is a before pic and then the finished photos.

Really @ebinmaine ? This is the first one I ever had. I was going to say that if you like Wheel Horses you have to like this old Cubs. They are a lot alike. The ease of changing attachments is where Wheel Horse pulls away in my opinion. Both are over built, both run the same Kohlers. I really do like this tractor. I have my eye on another... has a 14hp Kohler and a hydro. We will see.

Yepp.

When I were a wee bit smaller (1970s) my Grampa had one. Around 1980 he bought a red Cub. (682?)

Yes, the older IH built Cub Cadet garden tractors were well built.  As was about all of the 60 and early 70s garden tractors of any brand, including Sears and MTD.  The design philosophy and marketing strategy was intended for equipment and machinery to last a lifetime.  Also, home owners were more into having small gardens, doing their own yard work, snow removal, etc.

As much as I like the older IH built CCs, having owned a flock of them in the past, I could have made some suggestions to the designers and engineers who designed them.  But, I can make that statement to all the manufacturers of that day and today's machinery as well.  As much as I like my older Farmall F-Cubs, I do have some complaints on accessibility and design of them as well.

And btw, that is a nice job you did.  Hats off to a job well done.

Very nice, thats one to be proud of. The yellow weights look sharp on there.

I take it the guy never came back for it?

@71_BroncoThe guy just called me. Wants to give me a deposit on wed, then pay me the balance in 2 weeks ..... ugh. I told him I dont even have it advertised yet and the price I gave him was as it sat that day. Since then I got the weights and painted the tractor. Why does he have to be so difficult. Sounds like he wants to start a little snow removal and fall clean up business and he wants this as his money maker. I told him just remember that he would be buying a 50 yr old tractor. It runs and drives fine now but I have no crystal ball. All I know is I dont want him driving around my property on a tractor anymore !!! Take the money and run or hold out???

Would deal it like „who payed first, that take it first“.

no less no more.

Just had some troubles in the past with deposit and balance Deal‘s.

But that was just my experiences.

I don't do payments. I'm not a bank. No offense to anyone but I've been stung one too many times.

I do like the idea of removing the weights and selling the tractor separate.

It's your deal so it's up to you but I'd tell the person it's all or nothing.
