tallen4392 69 #1 Posted August 28, 2020 Does. anyone run 50lb wheelwrights on the back of there automatic wheel horse is it to much for the sundstrand trans ?? Should there be two locking bolts that hold the rear hub to the axle 1 does not seem like it would work to well and could work its way out with a lot of weight on the wheels and pushing snow... What are your thoughts ?????
ebinmaine 67,309 #2 Posted August 29, 2020 There's no concern there whatsoever as far as I can see. 2 set screws is absolutely better than 1. No matter the weight or non at all. When I get my Charger hydro setup this fall I'll be running approximately 250 to 260 lbs of fluid weight alone. Tractor 625? Extra weight fluid and steel 275. Plow 100? Me 250+ Total 1250 pounds or more.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,312 #3 Posted August 29, 2020 Plenty of guys run 50# weights on hydro tractors including the older ones with a single set screw on the axle. Remember that both the single and double set screw hubs only have the one key way. If it’s still a concern a second set screw could be setup on the old hubs. Drill, tap...install

Thanks I have a set of 50 pound weights for the back of mine for a total of 100 pounds. I always feel that I can use more. Plus ag tires of course.

8ntruck 6,991 #8 Posted August 29, 2020 The wheel weights are supported by the tires, not the axles and transmission. 50 pound wheel weights shoulden't be a problem.
Ed Kennell 38,028 #9 Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) Never had a problem with my 312H pushing snow or pulling down trees. Around 500 lbs with me in the seat. Edited August 29, 2020 by Ed Kennell
daveoman1966 3,745 #10 Posted August 29, 2020 My C-160 of 1974 with the Sundstrand 90-1140 Auto has 75lb weight on EACH rear wheel, and fluid-filled 23x10.5x12 tires. Never an issue of any sort.
