Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #1 Posted August 28, 2020 So what’s everyone paying for 1/4” rubber fuel line? Just picked up 10’ from the local NAPA for $3 a foot. Seemed expensive but I didn’t have time to shop around.
AMC RULES 37,127 #2 Posted August 28, 2020 Probably find it cheaper on line... but in this Covid time I'm trying to support the local shops as much as I can.
ebinmaine 67,274 #3 Posted August 28, 2020 We keep a "parts store" in the basement. I buy blue stens tubing because I can see the fuel through it. I do realize that's not the black rubber in the first post. I paid 29.94 For 25 feet -delivered-.

I like being able to see the gas, and it's supposed to be good for 100% ethonal.....

ACman 7,618 #8 Posted August 28, 2020 Same with oil . I can usually get it cheaper at the hardware or grocery store than any auto parts store....
ZXT 2,401 #9 Posted August 28, 2020 Around here at the local O'Reillys, it's around $1 a foot. Our local car club has an account with them that members can use, and it typically cuts the price in half of most fuel line. I think the last time I bought 1/4" under the account it came out to $.60 a foot.

squonk 41,023 #13 Posted August 29, 2020 Fuel injection. There used to be regular fuel hose and the HP stuff. Napa dropped the regular hose. I noticed the price went way up a few years ago. I had a long post about pricing structure at Napa a while back. Not defending them but this is how it works at Napa If you care to scroll down the thread to read my post. squonk 41,023 #19 Posted August 29, 2020 H311 is barrier hose for 1986 and newer cars. Std. fuel line hose 1/4" #H175 1.69 ft. When you buy fuel line at an auto parts store, Ask for non fuel injection hose. IT IS THEIR JOB TO ASK YOU THIS. They may be liable if someone put regular hose on a fuel injected vehicle and there is a fire.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #20 Posted August 29, 2020 Lots of great info here guys...Thanks! The hose I bought does have printed on the other side “Not for Fuel Injection”. Tried to snap a pic but it doesn’t show up well. I really don’t want to buy online if I don’t have to (Support my local stores) so I’ll hit the local hardware stores next time. I was surprised that my local Tractor Supply didn’t carry it in bulk. All they had were packages with like 20” or so in it. Useless!
squonk 41,023 #21 Posted August 29, 2020 Take it back to Napa and ask for H175 hose @ 1.69 ft. You will impress the crap out of the counter guy with your knowledge. I researched the hose you bought. It supposedly exceeds the new “ low permeation requirement “ what ever that means. I believe it has something to do with NY adopting Calif. emissions laws. It will also withstand diesel and ethanol which regular hose won’t

All my machines get ethanol fuel (no cost effective way to get non-ethanol here in Ct.) so maybe this is the correct fuel line to be using?

The blue stens line is 100% ethanol capable but is of course not original in appearance.

Yes With the interior make up of the hose it will not break down in the long run. I always say "you get what you pay for" I try to buy local instead of online. Even if I have to pay more. Some day when you really need something right then, the local store will be gone. Look how many small OPE dealers are gone. The Toro dealer near me had been in business almost 100 years and shut down this January because everybody's "gotta be cheap" Everybody loves to own more tractors than they can stuff in the garage but pinch pennies on everything to maintain them. RANT OVER! Here is a nice write up on fuel hoses. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2014/12/05/tech-101-fuel-line-hose-what-you-should-and-should-not-use
