Just curious has anyone ever had two gas tanks

I'm going to pick up a tiller for my tractor or should I say one of them. And was wanting to know about the rocker shaft mount. Have an extra tank to mount under the seat so that I can use the bracket that holds the tank for the rocker shaft. I also have the tank mounted now on

the tower in front of the steering wheel.
Two gas tanks?

Thoughts?

Not a bad thought. I can run for better than 1.5 hrs on the gallon and a half tank that is in my Raider 12. I'm usually ready for a break by the time it needs gas. Not sure I would be able to get off of the seat if I ran 3+hrs straight.

Depending on why you wanna do that.

If you want to be able to extend the Range without refilling i would use a 3 point fuel valve - a manual one

and couple it between the two Tanks. If you just like to have the spare for longer Trailrides,

i would build a bigger Tank that fits.

While mostly all fueltanks have a breather, i see not much sense in just couple tanks together,

so a Bigger tank make more senses in my opinion, that would be the Way i would go.

There was an optional auxiliary fuel tank offered for the 520’s. It hung off the back right behind the seat.
  Somebody here had one...maybe @stevebo

When I added an extra fuel tank to my motorcycle/sidecar rig, I used a Chevy pickup electric fuel switching valve so it will feed off whatever tank you have it switched to

Here is a picture of the optional, auxiliary tank offered that Sparky is talking about.  I think this one was Ron's from the LaSueur show.  :occasion-xmas:

The rj I’m picking up from @Jennifer next weekend has had an extra tank installed. Looks pretty cool I think.  It has a valve near the carb to switch over.

larger capacity is always a good thing.

The 700-series zero turns had two tanks.  One on each side.  They weren’t selectable and were just tied together with a tee in the fuel line.   Even if you only filled one tank they’d eventually find the same level.

If you do mount one high and one low you’d probably want to put a selector valve to pick one or the other.  If you accidentally connect them gravity will transfer all the fuel to the low tank and possibly overflow it.

I think it’s a nice idea.  Could be worth it if you use a lot of gas.
