Correct springs for the parking brake and the brake on a charger

Recommended Posts

The Tuul Crib

I have been looking for these two springs for my charger. I've contacted A-to-Z tractors and I have Lincoln looking for them. I need the one for the parking brake and The other one that connects on the foot pedal brake. Any sources or where to find these springs would be helpful.
Thanx

I took measurements to figure out the length and went to my local hardware store. Didn't necessarily score on my first or second attempt, but I did eventually win.

when you say e brake spring are you talking about the one that pulls the brake pedal back to position?

Part #82  9170

Part# 109.    1230

The parts brake down is for a gt 14 but charger 12 should be the same.

Looks like the same setup.

Not to hijack Randy's thread but the problem on my charger is that the brake pedal does not return to center..

I assume I'm missing some sort of spring.

First hydro I've had so I'm not familiar with the setup.

The spring that pulls the pedal back is the one in the bottom pic above hooks into #110  It is WH #1230

Daveoman has an external fix in this pic.  Hooking the correct spring inside is a PIA  I have some springs I got from Mcmaster to use inside like 1230 you want one???

I'd love one Paul. Thank you. I'll p.m. you my address. Shouldn't be as bad for me because the transmission is off at the moment.

Very nice.

If I don't have pliers long enough I guess I'll have to go tool shopping.

The E-Brake spring is the one in this picture. It holds belt tension on when the brake is released. Also the lower rocker shaft holds the E-brake lever down when the brake is in the release position. When the brake is set the rocker shaft pivots back and the spring pulls up on the E-brake lever to set the brake inside the transmission.

So mine is working properly.

Takes a fair amount of gumption to pull up or down on that lever and I'm wondering if there's some linkage worn somewhere. I'll check it out.

They usually don't move real easy. It's kind of a pull up & pivot back motion to get the two arms attached to the handle to swing correctly.

Check the bottom of the pin (Blue Circle.  The arm can wear a deep groove in it increasing the resistance/friction

Made some new pivot pins, going to try bronze bushing on e-brake side of pivot. Made bushings for rods. Welded eggshaped holes in side plates, added grommets to the holes

Looks good. It’s the little things like this repair that stretch out a restoration, but really makes the difference.
