Also I see you are new to the forum, so if I may offer a bit of advice that may be helpful. Outside of my 2 inch receiver I didn't have any attachments for the 3 point hitch so I snagged them up. JohnD 145 #36 Posted September 9, 2020 Hi all! This newbie also recently acquired an '83 C-175. How can I tell what type the Kohler twin-cylinder 17 HP engine I have (type 1 or type 2)? The motor serial number is 12158706 if that helps. I noticed the previous (son-in-law of the original!) owner has it slightly overfilled with oil (if the safe range on the dipstick is about 0.75", it's about 0.75" over that). Interestingly the hydrostatic transmission oil level is too high by the same amount. Is this poor maintenance or on purpose? I mainly got it to plow, and then tow a trailer up and down 7-10 degree grades in the summer. Is there any reason not to run 10W-30 in the engine all year long? Many of us run straight 30 detergent above 32°, and 10w30 below 32°. All of our tractors on my property are older so I can't help you with yours so much but others will be along.
