D_Mac 8,593 #1 Posted August 21, 2020 So I went to a few garage sales today. Picked up a 10 drawer top box for an old 1960's Craftsman bottom chest I had. I also picked up these. I couldnt pass them up for what they were asking. These are vinyl decals that would go on the doors of your truck, side of a trailer, your back window.... where ever you want to put them I guess. I bought 2 sets of door decals and 2 rear window decals. I was going to put them on my truck but chickened out. I am not a " biker" anymore and when I was I never owned an Indian. I dont know what to do with them but I kinda want to go back tomorrow and get the rest of them..... I know Im funny like that. Any ideas what I can do with them?? Any Indian guys? 5 6
bc.gold 3,403 #2 Posted August 21, 2020 Best movie, The Worlds Fastest Indian, staring Anthony Hopkins as Bert. Bert's 500 cc Scout was a 1920, I had a 37, a buddy has a four cylinder Chief. 5
SylvanLakeWH 25,490 #3 Posted August 21, 2020 Put them in the classified section and see if there’s any interest...? Or, they would make a Great Wall decoration in your garage... kinda a horses and Indians theme... 3
Achto 27,503 #4 Posted August 21, 2020 Would make good wall hangers. Cut out & paint some sheet metal signs to but them on.

Alex175 784 #9 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) Those are awesome! I had the good fortune to be able to ride one of the new Indians a few years ago out at Sturgis and man are they nice machines. The best word I keep coming back to as a way to describe them is smooth. From the throttle response, braking, shifting, cornering, everything about that ride was just smooth and a really enjoyable experience. I love the bikes, only wish I could afford one . I had it for the day so my brother and I rode all around the Black Hills. We started with Breakfast at a little coffee shop inside an old gas station in Deadwood (one of the coolest towns I've ever been to) The Indian front and center in the picture is the one I was riding, a Chieftain Classic. Then stopped at the Pactola Dam and Reservoir which is absolutely gorgeous. And ended the day going up to Mount Rushmore...man that was a good day. D_Mac 8,593 #12 Posted August 21, 2020 I would hang them on a wall in my garage if I had a wall with any space left on it. Still may put a set on the doors of my truck. I guess I could always peel them off. Im going back there today I think and buy up the rest of them. @AMC RULES When I get back I will post pics and sizes of what I wind up with.

They may not get Crazy Horse done in my lifetime, but in the museum they have a nice Indian MC on display. 1 hour ago, Alex175 said: We started with Breakfast at a little coffee shop inside an old gas station in Deadwood (one of the coolest towns I've ever been to) The Indian front and center in the picture is the one I was riding, a Chieftain Classic. We had breakfast in a gas station in Deadwood too back in May of 2019. No Indians parked there, but there was one sitting on the street nearby. 1

The Indian name had a rough time getting back into the market. I used to work in an aftermarket Harley shop that also sold CMC motorcycles. About '99 when they merged with some other companies and started branding the bikes as Indian's they approached us to carry a dealership. The up front capital demand for merchandise was a bit over the top at the time, plus the bikes were nothing more than Harley clones with S&S engines and big fenders so we declined. Instead we built our own custom Harley clones for customers that wanted one. It was at a good time for us, with a turn around of about 30 days from order to delivery we could get a customer on a bike faster than Harley could. One more owner ship of the Indian name went through before Polaris bought up the name. Under the Polaris umbrella the Indian motorcycle has come along way. I know some die hard Harley guys who have hung up the shield in trade for a head dress, claiming better ride & reliability.

Tractorhead 9,064 #16 Posted August 21, 2020 Seen once a old Big Chief on a bigger Motocycle meeting in Austria, completely restored that was the first time i realize that Brand itself. See it at some of the Motor Circus driver’s before, they drove em on steep Wall‘s. When i know a bit more about the Brand Indian, i asked once one of this Guy‘s why he choose this Brand, Not much knows about them and that be old Motocycles - He answered: „It‘s really simple, that is for that Job i need it the best motorbike you can choose. It‘s simple, reliable easy to Service and if it runs it runs until shutoff the Engine or until Fuel is empty. There is nothing that be comparable and he tried over the Time several other Brands but never had that Trust to them as he had to the Indian Brand.“
D_Mac 8,593 #17 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) So I went back to the garage sale today and bought up the rest of the decals. The guy was busy so I couldnt really talk to him. I did ask if I could take a picture of his bike he said yes ... here it is. He told me he used to restore old pick up trucks and use these decals on some trucks. Said he did a 46 Chevy not long ago and sold it through Barrett - Jackson. Anyways I will post a pic of his bike here and pics of the decals in next post. His licence plate reads " SCALPD" Edited August 21, 2020 by D_Mac 4
D_Mac 8,593 #18 Posted August 21, 2020 So here are the decals I got. Still on the fence if I want to put some on my truck or not. Not even sure if in todays day and age if they are politically correct or not. Im sure the scalped reference is not. 1
D_Mac 8,593 #19 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) Not sure why some came out upside down. 4th pic is what I want to put on the doors of my truck with the rear window decal as well. The bottle of solution is what he gave me to apply them with. Spray both sides, then you can slide it some to position it. Tractorhead 9,064 #21 Posted August 22, 2020 I like the Set of Decals you choosen. Decals on cars or Trucks be alway’s a Statement of the Vehicle owner. If it‘s „Political Correct“ in these Day‘s ? i‘m not sure, but i don‘t care much about. As long as it don‘t tells : „We scalp you if you don’t wanny Buy“ i would place it. Like the Set you choosing for your Truck. I see the whole political correctness discussion is sometimes a bit overruled. We never be disrespectfully to others, but i grow in an Area, where we like to keep our Slang is being used. We had our talking inbetween Buddies, what has some saying a different meanings except to the talking with strangers or others. This is a respectfully meaning inbetween and a Buddy know‘s it, even if it sounds for an outstanding person very Strange. We talked 40 or 50 more years since in our „slang“ with our best Buddies here and there and since few years all that shall be Bad? We shall be „ aged Aliens“? Ok, maybe we are, but we never break our Buddies rules we using for 40years or more. Our Statements being more upright than some of the political liar in the past. So i have the Balls to stay to my Statements, even when outsider‘s understand or interpret wrongly. I‘m just responsible for what i say, not for that how other‘s interpret it. 1
