Joefrommi65 18 #1 Posted August 18, 2020 Hey all, I have been away for a while and hate coming back already asking for help but the last time I looked at my yard trailer it needed tires and rims and it is at another location so I am not sure of the axel size or tire size and the manual I have just says tires x 2 and axel x1 in the parts list the style of trailer I have looked like a 67-05DC01 the rounder model trailer. Thanks in advance for any help,Joe
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #2 Posted August 18, 2020 Axle is most likely 3/4" diameter. Often farm supply stores have wheel and tire assemblies with a cheap ball bearing in the hub that would be suitable. A wheel barrow replacement wheel and tire may be another option as long as there is sufficient axle length to mount it. Best to find a wheel with a hub that uses a 1-3/8" OD bearing like the front wheels on most of our tractors. I have removed the supplied bearing from the hub and shortened the tube for an axle that was too short. Garry 1
Achto 27,509 #3 Posted August 18, 2020 (edited) I have also bought wheels that the hub is too short and added spacers on the axle behind the hub. Most trailers use an 8" rim with 400 - 4.80 x 8 tires with a 3/4" axle. The wheel below should work if you add spacers on to the axles behind the wheel to take up the excess space. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/pneumatic-tire-ribbed-tread-16-in-x-400-8?cm_vc=-10005 Edited August 18, 2020 by Achto 1

Garry How do you shorten the hub? Obviously throwing it on a lathe would be the best / most precise, but not everybody has a lathe of that capacity, or even a lathe period lol.

I scribe a line around the hub with a depth gauge and use a cutoff disc and patience. Good enough for our speeds. Garry
Joefrommi65 18 #6 Posted August 19, 2020 Thanks all for your help, Hope to use it soon for black dirt to fill . I am thinking a cut off wheel or Sawzall with a fine blade but leave it a little longer and straighten it out with a grinder ?
