It was delivered on the first day of the 1952 political conventions which were being covered by both of the TV stations we received at the time, boy was I disappointed! We all know the art of politics is to lie convincingly, so not watching or listening seems to be common sense; no one wants to listen to a liar. But then we trust these people with our future, so we need to listen to their BS Wasn't is a politician who said you can please all of the people, some of the time etc? He should have said you can fool some of the people all of the time. Our government have made a total mess of the pandemic too but there is no way to replace them, the alternative is even worse than the current group of baboons. Our political TV consists of party political broadcasts that are inflicted on us on all channels, before the start of a programme. Thankfully just long enough to mash a cup of tea lol. In a perfect world we should be able to have a healthy debate about which candidate will better improve our country, instead we are stuck arguing over who will do the least harm to it. The only way that we can begin to move towards that perfect world is to get out and vote. Right, left, indifferent, it doesn't matter, we need our citizens to be more informed about who they are voting for, and to actually vote and not just during the Presidential election, but local, state, and the federal elections leading up to the big one. To a few people's points early, most of cable TV is "reality" garbage because that is what people watch, so they keep making it. What we need to do is figure out a way to disguise learning about politics as a reality show to trick people into learning. Maybe Survivor: Senate Edition, or Big Brother: Capitol Hill. edit: just went to look up Capitol Hill to make sure I spelled it right, and after my google search, the first sentence that pops up about it is "Capitol Hill is the seat of the U.S. government, home to the domed United States Capitol...". Well, I totally read domed, as doomed. Well if that ain't a Freudian slip, I don't know what is. I haven't had any cable TV here since 2013. She had been even longer. We met 5 years ago and been super busy finding pretty much anything else to do than sit in front of the tube. Hike. Bike. Run. Exercising. Tons of yard work. Projects. Tractors. Etc. We just recently got cable internet back after a 2 year hiatus so she could do a little work from home. Sometimes, down here in Maryland (Carroll County), we got WGAL Lancaster, better than we could get WBAL Baltimore even though Baltimore was closer.
