WHX??

Or at least that's what I call it. Shelter Logic bought it at northern tool for about 500 to just to store project tractors and stove pellets in.  Figured I got five years out of it it didn't owe me anything. Put it up in the fall of '18 with the help of a 857.

Came home the other day to find this.

Needless to say https://www.shelterlogic.com/ is going to get a call today.

Stay tuned for their response.

See any bear tracks around Jim?  Maybe he was cold and wanted to snuggle a horse...

I bought one in 07 to keep a mustang in, almost 5years to the today the cover went, I ordered a replacement, a year later it ripped, they sent me another replacement, pro rated discount, instead I applied the discount to the 10 year cover which is great

I wish you luck, from my understanding they can be difficult to deal with when it comes to replacing torn covers.  I did a fair bit of research before I bought one myself last year and saw a lot of people mentioning issues.  I called the company directly before I purchased and I will say my interaction with them went well.  To their credit they did also warn me that the model I was buying (an inexpensive version also through Northern Tool) was not snow rated for my region, and that if there was an issue like you had they wouldn't cover it.  They do have some models that have full coverage, but those tend to be the ones that are much more expensive.

The funny part in all of this too is when I called they mentioned that they could not price match Northern Tools price and that I should buy through them instead.  I wanted to purchase direct if possible because their HQ is about 20 minutes from my house so I could pick it up and save on shipping.  Since they didn't I ordered through Northern, and it shipped from Shelter Logics HQ anyway.  It at least made for an interesting conversation with the trucking company, when they called me to set up delivery and I got to explain why I was getting something delivered from two towns over.

Thanks Alex I went with this model as it sheds snow, quite well I might add. I don't expect them to honor the one year warranty, but perhaps a discount on a replacement but if they do nothing they will get a scathing review.

If they do nothing I'll rip the durn thing down and put up a steel shed like @WVHillbilly520H has or a regular pole shed like what @rmaynard built which is what I should have done in the first place. Was just trying to get by for now still I was ready to build. I may still do that even it Logic comes through.

This is my plan as well.  Mine doesn't have the peak that yours does which is why they mentioned snow rating and all that, and living in CT, we can get some heavy snows.  I just made sure after every storm last year to get all the snow off the roof of mine and it has held up so far thankfully.  I know I want to build a large barn at some point but wasn't ready yet, so I went into this fully knowing that this was a stopgap measure and that it probably wouldn't last.  I fully expect mine to fail sooner rather than later, but I got it for $300, compared to to $20k+ I would be spending on the barn I want, so for now it is working for me just fine

No problem Billy I need all the edumacation I can get!

I really do like yours but I'm sorry the horizontal steel is a deal breaker. Getting to the point where beggars can't be choosey tho.

they really aren't that expensive and lots of options.... just one of many manufactures here http://www.metalcarportsdirect.com/carports

May have asked this before Jeffery but how is it fastened down ..... earth anchors??

Just wondering.... if a person could add some additional bracing, and get some of the sheet metal like the billy got on the car port, screw it on that logic frame work???

looks like a fairly nice set up other than the torn fabric.

I like seems like a good fit.

I'm interested because I need something and zoning for permanent structures is a problem, plus I am tight!

I also checked FB for metal sheeting. found this

29 Ga Metal Roof and Siding Panels. Cut to length. 15 Standard Colors ($2.30/LF), Copper Penny ($2.45/LF), 7 Textured colors in stock ($2.55/LF). Panels are priced PER LF. Pricing varies per colors and textured colors. Pickup or Delivery.

Mobile home earth anchors... And you could go "vertical" roof with boxed eaves it's a little more $$$ but I was at the max of my savings at the time.

Frugal might be a better word for me Joe.

Building inspectors be dammed around here we don't have them unless you are gonna live in it. We are supposed to get a town permit for anything permanent just so they can reasess yer property and raise the property tax for improvements. Can't do that for a fake garage.... in this township anyway.

So after a hour waiting on hold while I took care of business I finally said to heck with it and hung up on them. After reading some negative reviews I pretty much guessed I was gonna draw a flunky in a cubicle some wher and come up empty anyway.

Heck with them I'm ripping it down and putting up a man barn.

One guy wrote on their site here I sit with a big erector set! Now I don't read just all the negative reviews but even the positive ones were somewhat hokey.

Turns out they offer different weight covers with different warranties... guess I shoulda researched the options for pulling the trigger on this POS from Northern. My bad. The biggest beef is why sell this crap in the first place? Just be honest and say hey you'll be lucky to get two out of this and upsell?

Actually that's not a bad idea Joe. Regular rib steel would probably conform to that shape placed horizontally. The right self drilling screws and careful placement in the round tubes??  It would add lots of rigidity to the frame. I have some old cover sheets of rib steel may give it a try just for kicks.

I did play around around on the Menards online design thingy and came up with this for a regular pole shed . Probably closer to 7k by the time I add the second side wall sliding door.

Was also poking around on the versa tube structures Dan had a link to. :eusa-think:

I bought 2 shed when my dad passed away to store my memories with my dad. I am very happy with them both wished i would have built a barn instead tho. I have had to move my biggest shed already my mother in law decided to sell her house after my father in law died. So now my biggest one sits on my biological cousins property. It is a barn style 10x16 cost me around 3g. Lifetime warranty on the roof and door hidges. My other big one is a 12x24 with a reinforced floor and double loft as well. that one i paid cash for 6,300. They are well built by the amish. Here is my one I have at home. I built this tough a$$ workbench to. You could put a 427 on this sucker. i didnt mess around building my bench

Similar to Jeff’s metal shed, but open ends.  My FIL and his dad are always finding close out deals, good used stuff, etc.  I recall it was $1100 installed.

The best option with mine was... I didn't have any manual labor in erecting my buildings... Green or Red.

As far as yours. That sucks, if you want to/have to keep I'd buy thickest top and raise hell w their customer service until you get a discount.

If you want to explore the metal carport/barn thing use this.

www.carport.com has a great online builder/program/software thingy.

Pick colors, add walls, doors windows, ribs run up or sideways, yada yada yada.

I used that to build and price mine, then called all the local carport places to find best price. This website was within $500 on my $15k shop vs. local.
