MapleGuy 10 #1 Posted August 16, 2020 Well, we all know how the smallest jobs turn into major ones. I picked up a C145 Eaton hydro this summer that runs OK, but has suffered a lot of neglect, so I set about doing some routine maintenance in hopes of perking it up. The hydro oil filter was rusty, so I know it hadn't been changed for some time. The oil that came out of it looked like chocolate milk. Well, the hex wrench hole in the hydro drain plug was so chewed up, I couldn't get a wrench to bite -- maybe one reason the oil hadn't been changed for a while. So, I picked up a little manual transfer pump to get the oil out through the dipstick tube. It was going slowly, but OK until I went to adjust the intake hose and found it to be stuck fast down somewhere inside the hydro. It's a little black hose, maybe just 3/16ths of an inch wide. I didn't pull on it with all my might for fear of breaking it or getting it stuck worse. I am no mechanic and I cannot afford to have somebody take the entire hydro apart just to fish out a piece of hose, should it break off. Any thoughts? It's almost like having a hook stuck inside a fish. I feel like I need a "hook remover" that I could slide down the tubing and exert some downward pressure on it to try to free it. I suppose I could cut the hose and push a little rod down through it and try to dislodge it. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
Ed Kennell 38,637 #2 Posted August 16, 2020 Is it possible the tube got pinched in a differential gear? Did you try rocking the wheels as you pull on the tube?
BOB ELLISON 2,981 #3 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) I would Jack up the rear axle and move the wheel back forth very slowly while pulling on the hose. Edited August 16, 2020 by BOB ELLISON
