Value of early 60's Wheel Horse

Recommended Posts

I am looking to determine a reasonable fair value of an old Wheel Horse.   It's been sitting  unused in my shed in the Renovo, PA area for over 20 years now, and I need the room. My father-in-law owned it before me. I've never seen it run, nor have I ever tried to start it, but he was an excellent mechanic and kept just about everything in running condition before basically parking it in the shed. Just wondering what to ask and where to sell, without hassling too much about the price.

I attached some pics.

The plate under the controls reads:  62-8102.

The controls and double axle bars in front seem to match pics for this:
  • 702 1962 Lawn & Garden Tractor 702 4-Speed Kohler K161S-28622E 7 Wheel Horse 5025
But the Kohler motor stamped numbers seems to match this, so I am wondering if the motor was swapped out or did they sometimes come with different motors:
  • 753 1963 Lawn & Garden Tractor 753 4-Speed Kohler K161S-28626E 7 Wheel Horse 5025

Any help on pricing, model information, and best way to sell would be appreciated.

[I also have an early 70's Sears Hydro-Trac 12 with snow blower and leveling/grading blade as well, but I'll ask about that in different forum.]

Thanks.

:WRS:

The value of a non running :wh: is hard to determine because you never know how much will need to be put into it. Most of us have a maximum price ($ 200 in my case) that we would pay for an otherwise complete non-runner. With the missing S/G belt cover and wrong seat it might bring $ 500 in running driving condition.

Pullstart

:text-welcomewave:  I love my ‘62 round hood so much, I bought another very similar to it!  I gave around $200 plus or minus in worse shape for both rigs, but it seems PA’s market is more tractor heavy than MI so maybe in your area $150 would be reasonable.
