BIGMIKE 78 #1 Posted August 13, 2020 I am starting early to get my 416-H ready for winter Throwsnowing. About a year and a half ago I bought this Wheel Horse snow cab. Reportedly it was never installed on a tractor. Along with it was a manual. Covered in This thread. Last weekend I started to install the cab on my tractor. I did find a manual in the manuals section that matched a cab that looked like this installed on my tractor. I had to modify the rear supports as well as fabricate a few missing pieces but I have the frame and doors mounted up and all squared up in the openings all that is left is snapping the rest of the vinyl on the frame and bolting on the top. And fixing a few mouse dinner holes.... The 42” Throwsnower mounted up easily. All I need to do is install the big honking assist spring, lube up the chain and put the chain guard back on. Oh, and build the extension wings. I could use some measurements if somebody has a moment. I could eyeball it as I did the parts that I had to fabricate but measurements would be good. Then I tackled the foot pedal install. I bought it more than a year ago. Nicely fabricated stuff I will say. I had to scratch my head reading the instructions a lot to get it all installed but once I had it apart and the parts identified it went together quickly. One issue was a hose (hydraulic hose?) that runs from the finned pump motor to the front of the tractor was in the way of the hydro centering bracket and it's mounting bracket. I had them in and out a few times before I had it sorted. I had to modify the hydro centering bracket a bit. Mine in the kit was fatter at the pivot end than the one shown in the instructions so I modified mine to look like that as well as cut the corner off the mounting bracket. I didn't want the new parts to rub the hose at all to avoid a leak. Most of the install is done. I still need to fine tune the neutral setting and reinstall all my freshly painted panels. BIGMIKE 78 #3 Posted August 17, 2020 I took the first drive with the new foot pedal kit. Apparent right away I was not getting full speed in forward. Also it was not returning to neutral easily wanting to hang up when the pedal was all the way forward. I adjusted the rod back to the transaxel but soon discovered that the linkage rod from the pedal is hitting the top of the slot and jamming there. I think i need to adjust how far the heim joint at the pedal is screwed on to the threads. Also my tractor had a floor direction control lever and the instructions say I would have to find an alternate place to hook the spring. There was a hole through the frame and I put a bolt there and hooked the spring over that. I need to move the spring attachment point so the spring has more tension at the neutral point. BIGMIKE 78 #4 Posted September 7, 2020 My Cab install, Throwsnower install and foot pedal install is completed. Still a bit of tuning to do on the throwsnower, (lube and install the guard) but it all works and I am ready for winter. I really enjoyed the foot pedal installation and it really does transform the tractor driving experience. I will update this thread with further developments and a cool videoof the throwsnower in action. Love those action videos. BIGMIKE 78 #5 Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) What I discovered during the cab install was I was missing some parts for the frame of my Cab. I had to fabricate those. Fortunately it turned out well. I found a manual in the documents section that was closest to what I have and from the picture I was able to create what was missing. Apparently my cab was for a C series tractor but with a few modifications it fit right up to my 416-H. Pictures to follow of the fabricated parts.
