phil auldridge 0 #1 Posted August 13, 2020 I acquired this beast from a neighbor. Paid way too much for its condition, but was impressed by the solid and simple construction. A tag under the seat shows: Model 40504X92A MFG Date 99084 Serial no 7406708491R01048 The only parts supplier I have located says that's NOT the mower model number. It does clearly show 310-8 on the side of the "hood", but no other tags are present. I've looked carefully in all the suggested places, and there is just no further identification that I can find. Without proper ID, the parts guy seems unable to help me with my needs: The blade drive sets up an awful howl when engaged, it seems just a matter of time until the end is near. Also, with my last mow in higher grass, I was experiencing some significant belt slippage from the blade(s) drive 1) can anyone help me identify my mower so I can get replacement bearings and/or pulley bearings for the blade drive 2) Is there any sort of tension adjustment for those blade drive belts? I can't seem to find any reference to that section of the mower in any of the online documents I've found I love this crusty old beast.. hope I can keep it going a bit longer. pfrederi 18,090 #2 Posted August 13, 2020 That model number would be for a Murray. You have some sort of "Frankenhorse" Post a couple pictures so we can help you figure out what you really have...
phil auldridge 0 #3 Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) Here are pictures of my Wheel Horse, er Murray? Any assistance will be appreciated I pulled up parts diagrams for the Murray model sticker I found underneath the seat (supposedly a 1999 model), but I don't believe that is the mower I have. The Murray has the gear shift on the left side fender, discharge on the left, and 2 blades. My unit has center shift under steering wheel, 3 blades, and discharge on the right. phil auldridge 0 #6 Posted August 13, 2020 Thanks for all this instantaneous help! Yes, the Kohler is a model K241S Spec 46849 I could use an owner/maintenance manual for guidance on removing the deck and/or replacing those bearings. Also suggest source for parts?
