8ntruck 7,082 #1 Posted August 10, 2020 I had my 14-8 No Name up on the jack with the rear wheels off today. I noticed that both axles had about 1/8" end play. Is this normal? I think this is a 10 pinion limited slip version of the 8 speed. It has 1 1/8" diameter axles and both rear wheels dig when trying to grab the ground. roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted August 10, 2020 As long as you have no play up and down or side to side you should be fine...
ebinmaine 68,333 #3 Posted August 10, 2020 There's a fair amount of end play in a horse differential. Not sure of the actual spec but I've had 1/4" or more. It's the space between the axles inside the differential. Like stated above just be sure you have very little rotational movement. More than a 1/16" or so and you should consider replacing outer bearings.
