If you can't have a wheel Horse?

About 1/4 acre lot to mow. What rider would you buy. Walking mower is not a good alternative?

Don't take this the wrong way, but a quarter acre isn't a lot to mow with a push mower.  Matter of fact it's probably good exercise ;)  If you're looking for a rider, then a short frame :wh: would most likely be your best choice because it's quite manuverable in tight areas.

Why not a Wheel Horse ? I have bought and sold just about all makes. It is all really going to depend on whats comfortable for you. If you are just looking to mow the lawn and nothing else, you can get yourself a rear engine rider for 1/4 acre lot. I had some nice little SNAPPERS in the past. I also had a few HONDA rear engine riders that I thought were very well engineered.

That seat looks like it may have come out of an early 60's Corvair.

I mowed a one acre yard when I was a kid in the mid 70's. Did it with a pushmower one summer till I bought a rider the next year. I think I got about 30 bucks for mowing it.

I have a small yard now and use a zero turn with no guilt whatsoever!!!

Mm.. I mowed a 3/4" acre hilly lot with a Ransomes 30" walking mower for quite a few years.. fellow simply wouldn't let me run anything else. He liked the finish the Ransomes left.

..Looked like a hay mower just came through.

if I had 1/10 acre I would still have a Wheel Horse

C'mon, it's about boys and toys. We never grow up - the toys just become more expensive and the piles of dirt get higher. I have a 21" 80s Snapper push mower that is still alive and on its second engine (found in the neighbor's trash). It ran a 1/4 acre so I could get exercise BUT I had a C-125 and a Snapper rider anyway. Now, I have two more Wheel Horses because...toys. Toys that move and toys that shoot. Other than occasional adult beverages and adult responsibilities, I'm still under 10...

:soapbox:            If I couldn't have a Wheel Horse then I guess you may as well give me a shovel so I can begin digging my grave!                  :scared-eek:

I dont know how many of you have ever seen one of these. Craftsman LUV... Lawn Utility Vehicle. Worst piece of junk ever built. Sold it to a fool who wanted to use it to haul fire wood. Told him many times that this isnt going to work for that.  .... he bought it anyways. 3 days later he wanted his money back. I asked him how many times I told him it wasnt going to work. He said he thought it would. I told him to think of another use for it then, not my problem. He wanted to fight me over it. On the plus side.... It did have a cup holder !! The grass catcher came off and you use the back to haul. Problem was it barely would move the rider. You sit on it and the metal would flex. Was like sitting on a self propelled mower. Did I mention it had a cup holder !!!

Love the replies. Asked this to see what the response would be. I have Wheel Horses and I mow more than that.
