Jake Collie 3 #1 Posted August 6, 2020 Hello all. Was in the shed last night and noticed an oil pool under the left rear tire on the 520H. Looks like I will be changing the axle seal and bearing. It appears I will have to take the whole transaxle apart to get to the bearing. Is this correct? Thanks.
pfrederi 17,868 #2 Posted August 6, 2020 Bearing yes disassemble... seal only not necessary. jack her up and remove wheel. Try moving axle up down front to back . Shouldn't wiggle. if it does bearing will have to be replaced. Some in and out movement up to about 1/8"" is OK Welcome
Jake Collie 3 #3 Posted August 6, 2020 Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the axle moves up and down. Looks like a ball bearing inside and needle bearing outside. Time to get oily.
pfrederi 17,868 #4 Posted August 6, 2020 Needle bearing is B-1816 Seal is SKF 11124 I do not recall the ball bearing # off hand. (my tractors are all older) But they are less prone to failure..
pfrederi 17,868 #5 Posted August 6, 2020 (edited) Inner bearing is 6008-C3 Edit That is # if eh inner bearing is a needle bearing. Edited August 6, 2020 by pfrederi
Jake Collie 3 #6 Posted August 6, 2020 Inner bearing is wheel horse # 111199 and is a 40mm ID ball bearing. Thank you for the other numbers.

lynnmor 7,354 #8 Posted August 6, 2020 If you have a lot of play there is a good chance that the axle is knackered. The axle is hardened and ground in the bearing area and that cannot have even minor damage.
