ebinmaine 68,343 #2 Posted August 5, 2020 Maybe a snowblower engine? Hydro transmission? So 65 or newer. Looks like the type of PTO from 65 to 67 or 8. That's set up similar to what we did with Trina's Pony. Hers is a Briggs 8 with a 3 speed.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,096 #3 Posted August 5, 2020 Here is a parts list for the engine. https://www.partstree.com/models/190402-0646-xx-briggs-stratton-horizontal-engine/ If I remember correctly it was made September 21, 1973. Those model numbers start with the approximate cubic inch displacement and 19 is oftem advertised as 8hp. Stepney 2,325 #6 Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) Looks like a 3 spoked steering wheel which generally tells me 1967-9. However it has stirrups instead of footplates and looks like a short frame?? Maybe an 875 with the wrong wheel? Cant really tell the frame from a pic like that but the deck looks pretty tight there. Is there a tag up under the dash? EDIT it must be 1967 or later due to the hand brake being up near the fender. Older ones were down low. So maybe a 1967 hydro of some sort? 1077? Was there an 877 short frame that year?? I'm getting a bit forgetful. Nothing really stops parts bodging but every long frame I've seen with an old style deck has an oversize driven pulley and uses the newer type PTO clutch. That had a foot pedal. Which goes along with the short frame/econohorse thought? Edited August 5, 2020 by Stepney

Yes there is an 877 and I would agree that the three spoke steering wheel and the hand brake bring me to that conclusion too. The Sundstrand should be # 3100077.
