AHS 1,439 #1 Posted August 2, 2020 What does a baby swing have to do with a muffler... well I was mowing the lawn, in second gear... and the rope holding the swing happened to get caught in between the hood and the muffler..... now it leaks by the gasket, and it is bent up and outwards....that was my quietest tractor!! Tractorhead 9,064 #4 Posted August 2, 2020 Dismount the Muffler with the Screws on the engine flange and the stiffner Put the flange below in a massive vice so that the Engineside is up and free and flaten it back as good as possible, preheating with a torch helps to destress the metal while re forming. Use a flat iron to not impact the Flange itself on its surface with the Hammer. Hit with a hammer (about a pounder) gently on the flatsteel, that you lay straight on the bended edge until it‘s flat back. Inbetween hammerhits prewarming the whole flange to destress the Steel while bending. Use a metal ruler to doublecheck if the contact surface is at least straight on it‘s contact area. take care not to hammered on the surface directly, because you can impact the surface so heavy. allway‘s use a flat steel between hammer and your Flange surface. a lightly bent over on the screwed edges about 0,03 keeps it stronger on, like a spring preload. Remount the Gasket and the muffler and tightened the Screws and you‘re good to go silent again. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I think i will get it back into shape again on there... I mean it’s a muffler... I don’t know how much it costs or if it’s available!! This is how I would do it, but I think I would unbolt and heat the flange up to dolly it back. You could use a file if you don't have a belt sander.
