rmaynard 15,428 #26 Posted August 1, 2020 I personally think that they are great for storage, but horrible for looks. Many HOA's forbid them for obvious reasons. I had a Pack-Rat storage container in my driveway while I was redoing the garage. It has roof insulation to prevent the "rain". If zoning doesn't have a problem, but the neighbors do, you might want to make it look like something else. 6
19richie66 17,500 #27 Posted August 1, 2020 (edited) Mine will get painted to match the house. Hopefully with a roof over them and matching paint, they won’t stick out too bad. A little landscaping might help too. This is kind of the idea I was going for... http://www.southwestsustainablebuilders.com/shipping-container-woodshop.html I hope to use these steel trusses between the containers. JoeM 7,871 #28 Posted August 1, 2020 I know I made a mistake with my metal lean-to not getting insulation installed under the sheeting. It rains sometimes underneath when of course it is raining out and some occasions in the am and the dew is heavy. I looked into those prefabbed garages and as long as they are not anchored to the ground considered temporary and no permit required, But the cost is much higher. A lot of good points.
