The Tuul Crib

I came up on this the other day!

They are beautiful animals that browse continuously. One jumped my 6 1/2 feet fence and enjoyed some snaps (green beans), tomatoes and butternut squash. Added a little more height to the fence and have kept them out for a couple weeks. I have some venison in the freezer and just had some venison burger tacos last night. I am eagerly waiting for bow season to open in early October, my second season of bow hunting. I will also hunt muzzle loader and rifle season here in SW Virginia.

With the amount of time that we spend outdoors in our own forest we've had quite a few wildlife encounters over the last few years. Deer, bobcat, moose, bear, and whatever else you can imagine that's smaller. Always interesting when it happens.

Just last week we were on the backside of a fairly popular mountain where there was recent sign of a female moose. We heard quite a loud crunch not too far into the woods but didn't stick around to see what it was.

Yup, moose are not the ones you want to play tag with.

2 types of meeses not to mess with.

Mom with child.

Male in rut.

Otherwise they're really not a concern.

Such a wonderful animal to watch.

Some years ago I watch a man carry his dog into the woods to look a a moose.  This was in Yellowstone.  I did not stick around to see the results as there were plenty of others watching him as well.
