Dan.gerous 2,696 #1 Posted July 26, 2020 I had better start a thread on this new outbuilding thats going in next to our new vegetable patch - there are some photos already of progress but sticking it here is easier. The "complex" is going to consist of a 3m x 4m central section for parking wheelhorses and storing implements. To each side will be a 2m x 3m greenhouse type structure, they will be hand built from wood and not really a greenhouse at all I guess - but plants will be grown in them. We have rotovated 1/4 of the garden and put in the fence that will connect with the buildings. At some point a compost heap will be added, possibly some permanent paths etc. Anyway, sit back and watch the painfully slow progress!
Dan.gerous 2,696 #2 Posted July 26, 2020 Concrete pads were laid last Tuesday for the two greenhouse parts. Today in between heavy rain showers we managed to get the shuttering ready for the middle section. This will have reinforcing in it to cope with the weight of the vehicles.

roadapples 6,983 #5 Posted July 26, 2020 Looks good. Around here we would have to dig out the top soil and add about four inches of crushed stone before pouring...

Yeah but it's only a garden shed. I would do that for a serious structure like my workshop.

It's a lovely part of the country 😊 They will be even nicer once I get concrete paint on them, the finish is super smooth and I managed to get all the pads level with each other - bonus! Dan.gerous 2,696 #12 Posted July 27, 2020 Torrential rain all day so have not done much at all really. It eased off about 4pm so we went and framed up a wall, just to have a look really. It should be sunny tomorrow so want to frame then all up if possible.

Dan.gerous 2,696 #15 Posted July 28, 2020 Bit of progress today, framed up the two outside sheds, then ran out of wood. Went into town and loaded the van up with more wood to frame up the middle section. Had all the family up helping, including our newest addition "Ben". Will get a bit more down tomorrow, but then have to drive down to Southern England to pick up wheelhorse number 5.
Dan.gerous 2,696 #16 Posted August 1, 2020 Busy day today as we poured the middle slab for the shed. It was 2 1/2 cubes in the end, quite thick and with reinforcing mesh - don't think it is going to break any time soon. The little wheelhorse did an amazing job, bringing up materials. I had 300 kg of cement in the trailer on one run and it didn't even notice it. Later in the evening we started cladding the framed up walls, easier to do on the ground. We stood it up for a quick check to make sure it looks ok, then took it down again. It's slow going but we will get there! 8

Dan.gerous 2,696 #19 Posted September 6, 2020 The rain stopped so we thought it would be nice to make some progress on the shed. Stood up all the walls, got everything squared and bolted it in place. Doing the cladding now and then will concentrate on the roof. It seems a bit back to front but the cladding is here, whereas I don't have any roofing materials.
Dan.gerous 2,696 #20 Posted October 1, 2020 A bit more progress as the weather permits. Had major problems sourcing the cladding, had to drive into England to get some and even that wasnt enough to complete the job.

Dan.gerous 2,696 #24 Posted October 2, 2020 Just the last bits of woodwork to go into the trusses, and add in the gable end overhangs and I can start putting tin on. Won't get it done until next time I am home, but we are still moving forwards at least. It was only a couple of hours work, in between feeding pigs and drinking tea - no point working myself to the bone when on leave!
