Dan.gerous 2,696 #1 Posted July 25, 2020 Another C-125 has found it's way into my herd. Although it's a 14 hour round trip, it was cheap, has an attachment I wanted and could be a spare parts machine.....although that never happens! Comes with a wheelhorse sweeper, they fetch about £70-£100 over here and I got the whole lot for £200. Should be a winner even if it never starts. My wife is so understanding, I think she enjoys the wheelhorses as much as I do. 5
ebinmaine 70,793 #2 Posted July 25, 2020 Well done sir! Excellent that you have an understanding partner. Lucky for me Trina likes them almost as much as I do and certainly uses hers more.
Sparky-(Admin) 22,156 #3 Posted July 25, 2020 Congrats! So that rear discharge mowing deck looks odd...unless the picture is distorted. Is the blade at the bottom (of the pic) really that small? Even the deck shell has an odd shape

The deck I got on Thursday had the odd off set mounting point for doing kerbs. It does however look a bit bent - I'm sure someone will be asking to advise us shortly....

Dan.gerous 2,696 #7 Posted July 26, 2020 Have confirmed pickup date for Thursday this coming week - can't wait. It's quite a buzz getting new ones, even if the drive can be a bit tedious. We are going to head down on Wednesday night, stay in the van then grab the C125 first thing Thursday morning and head home. I'm telling Marie that it's a romantic COVID friendly date 🙄 Going to be awesome if that machine starts up and runs. Need more machines as I have somehow collected a lot of attachments in the past six months. 1

WheelhorseBob 1,550 #10 Posted July 27, 2020 It's a 1959 MGA 1600 parked next to my 520H. It was meant for cruising the country roads on your side of the pond.
Dan.gerous 2,696 #11 Posted July 29, 2020 On the road heading down to pick up the C125 I brought a few days ago. We have decided to make it into a two day trip rather than doing it all in a oner like usual. Fitted the back of the van out as a makeshift camper, took one of the beds out of the RV. Have two of my old mower decks to drop off at Mick's place on the way, he is about halfway down the country. Pictures of the C125 tomorrow once we have dug it out of the garage! 1

Mickwhitt 5,025 #13 Posted July 30, 2020 Hi Kev, All went well when Dan called in with the decks. I will look them over and start making a new shell during the winter, using the parts to fit it out and the measurements to create a pattern. Mick 1
Dan.gerous 2,696 #14 Posted July 30, 2020 Van loaded, heading north again 😊 Mower deck has a couple of fractures but otherwise looks in ok shape, certainly salvageable. It comes with a grass sweeper - awesome! Wheelhorse has seen better days but it all looks very original, no bodged jobs on it. Will put fresh oil in, clean carbs and see if it runs once we get home. Great to meet Mick, pity we couldn't hang around long. 2

Dan.gerous 2,696 #16 Posted July 30, 2020 Nose to tail traffic, guess we are not getting home quickly. Only four more hours if this lot would hurry up and clear!
Pullstart 64,609 #17 Posted July 30, 2020 Imagine how much quicker y’all would get along if you were on the RIGHT side of the road Sorry, just had to! 3

Ha ha, it's not your fault you guys have got it all wrong Nearly home now, about an hour and a half. Hopefully will get a good look at the machine before dark!
Dan.gerous 2,696 #19 Posted July 30, 2020 I'm home. Grabbed everything out of the van for some quick photographs. Checked fluids, all good so turned it over on the starter - all nice and free. Need to hook up an external fuel tank in the morning and see if I have spark and then try get this thing running. There is no key but I think a screw driver will work for now. You guys can judge the machine based on the photographs 😊 It ended up being an 850 mile round trip trip, but another wheelhorse in the stables has to be worth it. Now I just need to get all of mine looking half as good as Mick's! 1
Dan.gerous 2,696 #20 Posted July 30, 2020 The sweeper, it's in ok condition - no idea how to get it to work properly but will hook it up to Marie's wheelhorse in the morning and have a play. 2
Dan.gerous 2,696 #21 Posted July 30, 2020 And finally the mower deck - it's not rusted out which is a nice surprise! See the fractures, what's the best way to fix them? Once that's done will get it blasted and repainted. It will be great having a side discharge and a rear discharge in the collection 😁
Pullstart 64,609 #22 Posted July 30, 2020 If you disassemble the deck, I’d suggest plating the cracked area. Drill an 1/8” or so (1mm?) hole at the end of each crack to prevent it spreading, then grind a V notch along the crack and weld it up!

Three of the brackets have the fractures.
Tractorhead 9,093 #24 Posted July 30, 2020 If you be able you can reinforce them maybe after doing Pullstarts rework advice with an added Steelplate in the broken section to stiffned the Welded sections a bit more.
AHS 1,491 #25 Posted August 1, 2020 @Dan.gerous Restore the deck! There aren’t many left, many rear discharges!! I restored a 42” RD, with new bearings, and some welding, and it’s a new deck to my collection.
