gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #1 Posted July 22, 2020 Anyone have one of these that can confirm how the switch operates? This is a 5-terminal ignition switch for battery ignition with 4 key positions. Lights are controlled by the 4th position so no separate light switch. Most later models are using this switch with a kill relay to control the magneto ignition. Now the problem. Come to the conclusion some Kohler powered models have a fuel solenoid in the carb. Many wiring diagrams do not include the solenoid or how it is wired. I am trying to add to the wiring diagrams but the samples I found contradict the wiring that is available. The fuel solenoid has to work in both start and run. The Start terminal can power it in that position. The Rectifier terminal can power it in the Run position. But - The 520xi diagram could use the R terminal in both Start and Run positions to power the solenoid if that diagram is correct One of the diagrams is wrong. Suggestions? Tractorhead 9,093 #2 Posted July 22, 2020 Fuel solenoid must be imho attached to I = Ignition, cause this Terminal is active on Run and Start and all other status except Off. As long as the Engine runs or starts it must be active to release the Fuelflow.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #3 Posted July 22, 2020 Here is the one that got me searching for the correct answer on the switch function. The 2nd picture is why I'm trying to fix it. Garry
