mrc 841 #1 Posted July 22, 2020 hello men, i just finished tearing down an old C160 auto. the tag on the tranny was covered in grease and crud. the tag reads 90-1140. is this a hydrogear or piston to piston? can you tell from just a visual? if so , how? thank you mike in mass. pfrederi 17,868 #2 Posted July 22, 2020 If the hydro motor looks like a figure 8 it is hydrogear. Round is piston to piston. If tow valve is on the top hydro gear.

mrc 841 #4 Posted July 23, 2020 thank you pfrederi and the tuul crib for the quick reply. i was under the impression that the hydrogear tranny was basically a remove and replace kind of thing. tuul crib from the pics you have a hydrogear correct? you seem to be doing a great job bringing yours back to life. i always hear about lapping the swash plates and slippers. so a hydrogear can be repaired? thank you mike in mass.
