Nice restoration! I have a 1987 414-8 and enjoy it. Enough power to do anything I want to do and a great tractor.

Outstanding. Just did work to mine, though I only painted the wheels.

@Ro-Go   I like your tool box mounted behind the seat.  Great idea.  I'll be doing that.

Beautiful tractor. The Ags on all 4 corners make it look really mean.

Mine is an 88' 416-8 Not a full resto, I just painted the deck and the wheels. Went with a custom decal set. I have new engine decals that I have yet to put on. Becoming a big fan of these 400 line Wheel Horse. I like the shield on the muffler on yours. Usually only see that on the Onans.

Hello my name is Charles I have a 414-8 Wheel Horse Tractor

I have had my tractor about 15 months now, it runs great but; recently the gear shift pulled out of the box. Now it runs but, cannot put it in any gear.

I would like to know if you have any advise on how to repair or if you have any schematics that I could use to repair it. Any help anyone could give me would

be great and appreciated.

Thank you

Charles,

Welcome to the site!

Underneath the Red square banner, select the tab that reads Browse. Then select manuals, on the right side of screen select categories, then select your year tractor, then sort by title. Scroll to your year and model. All the parts diagrams and other valuable info is there for downloads.

You can also try searching the site, as I remember this topic has been discussed before.

For starters, beneath your shifter cover is a set screw, take a look at that screw as it holds the shifter in place.

Excellent job David!  I know what you're saying about the grandsons and their lack of interest in the things we're into.

Great attention to detail and looks sharp. Just picked up 414-8 last week in Austin, TX, starting with mechanical first and then see where it goes.
