520h rim size

Recommended Posts

jbrown11_1

Hello all,  I recently acquired a 520h (i think early 90's based on engine, no serial # on it), but would like to put some new rubber/rims on it.  I believe tractor has 12x9.5 wheels on it right now, can anyone tell me if these are stock?  I"m looking to get some 23x10.5x12 ag tires to put on it, so i think 12x8.5" wheel should work and might be cheaper than 9.5"?  Any info would be great

You'll do perfectly fine putting 10.5 AG tires on an 8.5 rim.

That's what I have on the back of my Cinnamon Horse.

Just make sure the backspacing is correct for your usage.

520s came with an 8.5" wide 12" wheel, but the earlier version only came with 9.50" wide tire then later 10.50" wide tires.

Thanks hillbilly.  They are standard 4.5 x 5 bolt pattern correct?

Found these online, just wondering if the backspacing will work.  I don't think the wheels on it now have that much backspace https://www.ebay.com/itm/352141890557?ul_noapp=true

I just happened to think you're also going to need the right sized center hole.

I'm not sure what it is on a 520. All of our machines are older. Maybe hillbilly can pipe back up.

They will not work on a Wheel Horse .They have 3 1/4" backspace and Wheel Horse wheels  have 1 1/4" backspace.

They're available on eBay but you're better off finding a correct set of wheels.

The 2" spacers are about $40 then you need special lug nuts for another $25 or so.

Easier and maybe even less expensive in the long run to use the right wheels.

Hi Eric, I would love to , but the wheels where i'm at from a dealer are $175 EACH!!  And there's nothing used available around me.  I can find the same size rims for cheap, just that backspacing is off.    I can't even find spacers on Ebay...lol.  Ah well.  The search continues i guess.

Give me a bit here and I'll send you a link to the items I bought and an explanation of what I did and why. As for the price of those wheels I don't normally buy something like that new. Anything that can remain structurally solid Trina and I will take the time to clean it up and repaint it. Pricing structure is just so much better.

I agree with you 100%, just struggling finding anything for this in my area.  I look forward to your info.  Thanks

Start with an ad here saying you are looking and I would also contact A-Z tractor for some used. You will have far less problems if you get the correct wheel.
