Does 1997 wheel horse use cast iron 16 hp engine. I did not buy the 314 h so now I am looking at a tractor with Oman engine.

The last cast iron M16 was used in 1988 model tractors.

The Onan's that followed are aluminum.

I have an 88 416-8 with the Kohler engine.Well over 1400 hours and going strong.Tractor will be down for rework but not because of the engine.Another Kohler M will take up the slack for now.

They are actually done in NC. Sent there by my machinist. Eventually, he will have his own grinder...been in the works for a while now.

the twins typically use aluminum block (if not always ?)

Onan and Kohler

I believe both have cast iron liners (and therefore can be re-bored)

B&S Vanguard twin also
