Hello redone, If you decide to go with Brian I hope you are not in any kind of a hurry, I ordered some carb parts on the 26th of last month and haven't got them yet, sent an email he other day inquiring about them, no reply so I called him yesterday and he hasn't even got to them yet. He said that he had alot of engines he's working on but will send them soon. Mean while my grass isn't waiting, going to have to bale it soon.

Go to your local equipment rental places and ask who they would trust to rebuild an engine for them. They won't do business with anyone who wont do a good job in a timely manner.

:confusion-confused:           Shipping an engine round trip would probably cost an arm and a leg.

I highly recommend @richmondred01 I put one of his rebuilt 16hp Kohler's in my C-160, and it runs great.  :auto-layrubber:

Thanks for all the compliments.

I spoke with redone a week or so ago. He wanted to have a Kohler twin rebuilt and I advised that I no longer rebuild the Kohler twins or the onans.
Additionally, the cost of shipping one way is bad enough but a round trip is very costly.
Now that I’m retired I’m just doing the single cylinder kohler k and magnums.

You might also consider http://shop.kustomlawnandgarden.com/KOHLER-ENGINES-REMANUFACTURED_c4.htm

I havent used them, but talked with a guy at our local tractor show that had gotten a K301 12hp from them and was pleased.

He is about ten minutes from me. I don’t know much about him thou. He has tons of tractors and mowers that I can see from the road.

Thanks for letting us know your near him  @John2189  We might have to get you to check him out someday.

Around where I am I've found 2 places to bore engines, but no one to turn cranks.

I think Napa still works on small engines around here. @JAinVA Jim did Napa handle a re bore on an engine for you a few years ago?

Well everyone I just got off the phone with the place up here in Saco Maine. NASCO machine. Spoke to a fella named Bob. He gave me permission to post this here.

I've never dealt with them personally on having any engine work done but their reputation locally is excellent.

They certainly DO accept UPS and FedEx engines from wherever they come in.

As we all know the pricing is going to have to be very vague because they don't have the parts in front of them. He said a single cylinder flathead block is going to be anywhere between $100 and $225 in most cases for a cleanup, check over and bore/hone.

Crankshaft can be anywhere from a light-duty polishing at $50 to $75 up to a deeper grind which could run as much as $250.

They also do cylinder head milling.

Hope this helps.

I can only say good things about NASCO myself. Did a beautiful job on a number of engines I've worked with.

Not the fastest but very tidy to be sure.

As for Mr. Miller.. isn't he still in jail, for things I can't really mention on a PG board?

THAT'S the main reason Miller will never get any of my money or a recommendation...

Great to hear NASCO has done right by you!
