My 520H is over charging

My 520H is over charging at 17 volts and around 14 volts with the headlights on. The battery is newer and I swapped out the regulator from another 520H that is works properly. The regulator that came off the over changing tractor works fine on my other tractor. I hope one of you can suggest something I missed to help me get it running again.

Generally you will find that overcharging is due to a poor ground on the regulator. Clean up the contacts and mounting points on the old regulator and it probably will work fine.

Plus, If you are relying on the volt meter on the machine, double check with another meter. I always use a hand held meter to check against the one on the machine.

Thanks for your input I did use a handheld meter and I was surprised how accurate the tractors meter was.

I think the over charging issue will be my ignition switch. I have no continuity between the B plug and the R plug when the switch is in the ON position. I'll find out for sure once I get a new switch. Thank everyone who responded.

The voltage should be correct at the center terminal of the voltage regulator, nothing downstream will increase the voltage.

Don't know what model year your 520 is but most do not use the R terminal on the ignition switch. No wire to it.

I did see until after your comment that the wiring diagram shows the R terminal isn’t used, so even though it didn’t test out it doesn’t matter Because it’s not used. I appreciate all suggestions.
