Recommended Posts

Saw this online today and I figured I would share it with all of you. More Harbor Freight jack stands have been added to their recall. Here's a link to the article.

Talk about a change of pants moment. Glad I gave mine away a few years ago. I gave my brother in law the ones i had and kept my late dads snap on ones. LOL Sorry i need to explain my lol. Me and my brother in law and sister on on non speaking terms. They screwed me over when my dad died.

The first time I can see is a mistake but the second time..... I don't think I would ever be buying another jackstand  from Harbor freight at all! Not enough

Quality control!

I tell you 2 things i have bought from them I love is my 301 mechanics tool set. I can take that thing with me to work on someones garden tractor and i have about any tool i need in there. and i love the floor jack i bought a couple years ago. It has been a very reliable jack. I think mines a 3 ton or 3 1/2. cant remember. I have alot of snap on stuff but id rather beat on these tools instead. LOL and i tell you what i have and they are taking the beating.

At least they manned up and owned  it.... don't see that very much....

When Toyota was swapping frames I was remembering Pinto gas tanks....

and remember that it is one company in Asia that is making them and multiple US companies are slapping their label on them.

I would guess autozone, Pep boys, Sears etc etc??

I do have a set of the HF 3 ton jack stands.  I do not like how the pawl doesnt have a pin through it.  I understand about the welds giving way.

but I have old massive stands from the 70's that I trust to be be under the Camaro.

I always put another set of jack stands as back up to the initial stands.

I think it also depends how much and how they loaded with.

They offered as 3,5 To but In my opinion i preferr to have at least a tripple safety,

so if i must support my Beast while changing Tyres with 600Kilos on the whole Machine i would have no fear to put them below.

If i must go close over 1,5 To. On a stand i go with 4,5To Safety calculation, I would use a 5To. Jackstand instead.

Worse quality is nothing what shall be dealed with, but i like allway‘s to have some spare on safety on top.

For use on a Gardentractor i can not imagine, that they be that weak to resist that load.

I was putting protective pieces on the gas

tanks of pintos back then during that recall. What they had us putting on didnt

look to be very protective at all.
