1995 520H+96+97 937 #2 Posted July 3, 2020 On my 1988 520H, I removed all that, just left the idler arm, pulley and spring, No more noise. 1
Darb1964 1,055 #3 Posted July 3, 2020 I have three hydro tractors, 312-A ,520, 518, they all do that. I think it's normal, working the way it should.
peter lena 8,721 #4 Posted July 3, 2020 TGALO, is that belt tension using a small pressure cylinder ? i agree with 1995 above , a spring beats a cylinder any day for constant pulley control , just use the cylinder mounting holes to mount a spring , also lubricate any related linkage, pete
lynnmor 7,354 #5 Posted July 3, 2020 Less than perfect belt, but of course there is never a perfect one. If the old one didn't drive you crazy, maybe try another but it could get expensive trying to find the one that is just right, kinda like finding a mate.
roadapples 6,983 #6 Posted July 3, 2020 Line the slot with the same stuff Skonk was selling to keep the hood from rattling.

My 312A is essentially the same set up and its quit. To answer the questions, when I picked the tractor up it had the noise. No pressure cylinder just the tension spring. The belt was about to break and the idler was bad. The belt was riding on the edge of the idler. I figured it was a easy fix.I had to shim it out slightly to get it to track perfectly. But it didn't change anything as far as the dancing arm goes. I'll mess with it some more... thanks all
953 nut 55,771 #8 Posted July 3, 2020 Is the bushing (# 44) inserted in the slot and able to slide? The arm on mine goes down quite a bit further and is smooth.
Tgalo 118 #9 Posted July 3, 2020 Yeah, it does. Slides freely. I thought maybe the pulley on the pump was bent but looks straight.
